Amy Roiland, better known as A Fashion Nerd was my first collaborator when I started Herbert Victoria. I discovered her after showcasing my first fashion week in Phoenix, Arizona back in 2013. I was looking for fashion bloggers to help market my brand. With a random Google search on “Bay Area fashion bloggers,” her name appeared. I would say that she pioneered the idea of fashion influencers viewing her earlier work, up to where she is now. Starting from blogging retro fashion, to creating a social platform about fashion called Fashion Tap, she now does mega editorials with industry brands.
Nevertheless, what drew my attention was her use of bold, quirky colors yet with a formal appeal throughout her editorials. Creating the #DROID collection at the time, which was all about color, at the time, I knew she would have been perfect! With one email, I received a gracious reply. She was delighted to collaborate, and the rest is history. To this day, #DROID was the highest-grossing collection I've done. I classify her as a young Iris Apfel for the millennial generation.

The ensemble comes from the #DROID collection made in 2015. The group contained seven different styles with seven different colors. It was influenced by the region of San Francisco, with the city stretching 7x7 miles and reverberating with its tech culture. The seven colors picked were the primary colors used for computer graphics and printing such as RGB and CMYK. Each look has a seven gore color block design embodying pixel imagery. This dress in the presentation was from the look #DROID ONE, a sleeveless, flared dress. The fabric is 100% organic, undyed cotton and hemp. Upon production, every piece was hand-dyed right in my workspace.
