Shopping for fabric some time ago, I came across this rare checkered plaid silk dupioni. With my enjoyment of prints, multicolors, and motifs this fabric stood out immensely. I bought it merely from my attraction to its lustrous color and pleasant touch. Moreover, there was a limited quantity. At the beginning stage of my designing, this was my first time using a silk motif. What I discovered is that it has an excellent wick effect, very easy to spot clean with soap and water, and I learned how to match plaids. I created this ensemble for a red dress charity event. The garment is a two piece with the top being a loose peasant blouse with puff sleeves and fullness at neckline. The skirt is high waist with panels draped on the bias to give this beautiful chevron design. The top is intended to be tucked in with the bottom having a high waist. Great for a formal occasion.
